On Friday 10th September, the Wales in Bloom awards took place in Beaumaris and Denbigh in Bloom came away with Gold and the Best Town in Wales prizes! Again!
The judges actually visited Denbigh in July, so it feels like all the volunteers have been waiting a long time for this day to arrive. However, it was most definitely worth the wait.
In 2019, at the first time of entering the Wales in Bloom competitions, Denbigh in Bloom volunteers were amazed to come away with a Gold and the accolade of Best Town in Wales. We couldn't really believe it.
In 2020, COVID-19 meant that all competitions were suspended and volunteers weren't able to manage the displays planned as usual. It has though, made 2021 all the more special. We were able to use the time we had, to plan an even bigger and better display for this year with many more planters added to key areas around Denbigh.
The response from the residents and businesses in town has been overwhelmingly positive. Everyone has been very kind in volunteering their time, offering lots of support and encouragement to volunteers, sponsoring planters and railing baskets and donating money. We couldn't achieve what we do without that moral and financial support.
It has been fabulous too, to hear visitors to town commenting how beautiful the place looks and we feel sure that it encourages people to come and visit Denbigh and spend their time here.
